Who feeds brent?
I do! I'm Maggie. I grew up in a kitchen divided—my dad loved complex cooking, my mom loved simple cooking. Sitting at the counter every night, I watched a lot of dinners get made. Anytime I "helped" my parents, I'd inevitably forget an ingredient, misread the instructions, or mess up the measurements (me + numbers ≠ success). I convinced myself I was a terrible cook. I would say “I burn water”.
Fast forward to being out on my own, I dabbled in those meal subscription services. They actually inspired me! I'd taste something and think, "Hmm, this would be so much better with garlic...or mushrooms...or hot sauce" (because what isn't better with hot sauce?).
I started exploring recipes, but noticed a serious meat overload. Now, don't get me wrong, I like meat and will treat myself to some when I eat at a restaurant. An In-N-Out burger with extra-extra pickles? Yes. It's just...cooking it? Touching it? No, thanks. But then, I started learning how to change recipes, subbing meat for tofu, subbing certain vegetables for ones I like better, etc. So a chef was born, you may say.
I was cooking a new recipe every night...and then completely forget when I think of things to make next week. Which brings us to feedingbrent.com. Every week, I ask Brent what he’s craving. His response? "I'm sure there's lots of stuff, but I can't remember anything you've made lately. You need to keep track of your repeats." Growing up, after enjoying a meal, I would hear my mom say "Is that a repeat?". That’s her code for "this one's a keeper". We've adopted my mom's "repeat" system, but with no organization.
So, after years of people (especially Brent) asking me to share my recipes, here we are. This site is essentially a collection of all the "repeats"—you're welcome. Consider it my gift to Brent, my friends, my family…and anyone else that stops by.
